In July, we hosted a Film Florida meetup at the Two Stories Media Studio. Film Florida is a “state-wide not-for–profit entertainment production trade association that represents Florida’s film, TV & digital media production industry.” To put it plainly, they are an advocate for the film industry throughout the state. The membership is made up of a variety of industry professionals including: production companies, producers, actors, film commissions, and more.
About the Evening
As guests entered our studio, they were able to enter to win a variety of raffle prizes from local vendors and industry professionals. They then made a name tag and made their way through different parts of the studio, such as the green room, until they entered the main studio production area.
In this area, we had film scores playing in the background (duh!). We also provided a selection of craft services. These included subs and wraps, fruit and veggie platters, cookies, and of course, beverages.
Throughout the evening attendees networked and had a great time! We were able to speak, alongside John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida, about the industry in our area and throughout the state, and thank everyone who attended.
It was a great evening being able to network with fellow industry professionals and highlight the work of Film Florida! If you work in or are passionate about the industry, we encourage you to consider joining or supporting Film Florida.
Special Note: Film Florida is responsible for advocating for Senate Bill 530 in the Florida Legislature. This bill would bring a variety of film incentives and tax breaks to those who shoot films in Florida. Currently, Florida is losing many potential films because of the incentives that other states provide. Consider contacting your state representatives to let them know how important it is that we film in Florida!
